This file contains 258 slips of papers which are orders to the Town Treasurer (W. Joshua Prentiss) to pay to the person noted on the slip a sum of money denominated in Pounds, Shillings and pence on the order of the Selectmen. some are signed by the Town Clerk (Ira Felton) while some are signed by the members of the Board of Selectmen. All slips are dated in the year 1785. Most of them have been made worthless by cutting a diamond shape hole in the center. The other eighteen slips have "Paid by note of hand" or "Paid" written across the face of the note.
