Eight items concerning aliens recently brought into Marblehead. 1. Letter 1836 signed by William Roads and J. W. Green stating that they are bound to the inhabitents of Marblehead in the sum of one thousand dollars. The condition of this obligation is that William Roads has brought into the prot of Marblehead from the British dominion in North America alien passengers on board the Schoone Teusen viz John Craig 23, Elizer Craig 24, Cathering Casey 24, Mary Casey 2, David Casey 8 months. They will indemnify the town and also the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from all expenses which may arise in maintaning for alien passengers during the term of three years. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Ebinzer Twisden and John Roundey. 2 Letter 1836 signed by Mark H. Meservey and J. W. Green stating they are bound to the inhabitants of Marblehead in the sum of eight hundred dollars whereas the said Markd Meservey has brought into the Port of Marblehead from the Britis dominion of North America alien passengers on board the Schooner Plough Boy - Jane Higgins 56 wife of Henry Higgins, Sarah Higgins 22, Louis Higgins a6, Jane Higgins 14. They will indemnify the town and also the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from all expenses which may arise in maintaning for alien passengers during the term of three years. 3. Letter 1836 signed by John H. Gregory and Samuel B. Gregory stating they are bound to the inhabitants of Marblehead in the sum of six hundred dollars. John Gregory brought to the Port of Marblehead from the British dominion in North America aliens passengers on board Schooner William which he commands from Pictou - samuel Scott, Jr. 36, Adam Mckay 24, Neal Murchison 23. They will indemnify the town and also the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from all expenses which may arise in maintaning for alien passengers during the term of three years. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Frederick Robinson. 4. Letter 1834 signed by Mark H. Meservey stating he is bound to the inhabitants of Marblehead in the sum of one thousand dollars whereas the said Markd Meservey has brought into the Port of Marblehead from the Britis dominion of North America alien passengers Terance O.Neal 50, Catherine O.Neal 40, Cathering O.Neal 15, Mary Ann O.Neal 13, Rose O.Neal 11, Teresa O.Neal 7, Terance O.Neal 3, Thomas Lubey 22, John Chapman 28. indemnify the town and also the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from all expenses which may arise in maintaning for alien passengers during the term of three years. 5. Letter July 3, 1828 to the Selectmen of Marblehead from Nicholas Tucker. He states that the Selectmen appointed him Superintendant for the landing of allien passengers but he sees that an act posted by the Legislature that the superintendent must be appointed by the governors counsel. The restrictions are such that he does not want to comply with them and does not wish to take the appointment 6. Letter July 20, 1809 from the Overssers of the Poor for the town of Boston stating that Rebeckah Galley and Child the wife of Richard Galley of your town have apple to this town for support. We have not granted them any at present, we therefor wish you to remove them as soon as possible. 7. 1803 Town of Marblehead to Philip Cotelle for service May 25, 1803 a Frenchmen brother from Guadalupe for board 13 weeks $26.00. 8. Peter Olsen born in gothenbur, Sweden 1801 Left there to New York from there com of Boston and Dec. 2. came to Marblehead where he has resided ever since. Charles Carpenter was born in Portsmouth England from there 1808 to New York. sept. 29 1811 to Marblehead on enter to Poor House. Lovall Morse, Salley, Morse. |
