This file contains papers from two different eras. The first is between 1846 and 1849 when the Gold Rush to California started. The second era starts after the construction of Abbot Hall and the establishment of the Abbot Public Library. A)The years 1846 & 1849 contain eight receipts from Richard Homan for recording births, deaths and marriages in 1849 and services as librarian. B)1848 A receipt from Thomas Brean for $6.28 for binding books in the library. C)1858 a petition from 10 men for a report for the disposition of the books and a report of a committee so appointed. D)1846 A receipt from Reynolds & Adams for work done on Town buildings including the Library dated Oct, 21, 1846. E)A Resolve dated March 16, 1844 for a School Library. F)A receipt from Glover Broughton for $5.00 for removing 470 books to the Town Offices New Room. G)1852 a paper titled "Remarks related to the Marblehead Library " by Glover Broughton. H)1852 a petition for an article in the Warrant for a Town Library. I) 127 Receipts Etc. for the Abbot Public Library for the years after the construction of Abbot Hall to 1900. |
