This file contains papers pertaining to the Fire Department for the years 1874 throught 1877.
A) there are four petitions: 1) to the Selectmen to call a Town Meeting to dispose of one or more of the Hand Engines with 8 signatures. 2) to the Selectmen to hold a Town Meeting to authorize the purchase of land at the corner of Pleasant & Washington Streets for the constrution of a building for the Mugford Engine Company, with 9 signatures. 3) to the Selectmen to add an article in the next Town Meeting to purchase a Steam Fire Engine dated Aug. 4th 1874 with 14 signatures. 4) to the Selectmen to establish a water supply at Franklin Place and the Univeralist Church and to chose a committee to report if Salem ownes any land along the Marblehead Shore line with 10 signatures.
B) Twenty four receipted invoices on printed bill heads for sevices and material.
C) Ninety six receipted invoices on plain paper for sevices and material.
