Letter from Phares Shirley, Treasurer, to the assessors of Marblehead, dated June 9, 1848, advising that $13,500 "should be raised" on the inhabitants to defray the expenses of the town. 3. Letter from Moses L. Hale, Secretary, addressed to the asssessors of Marblehead and dated May 5, 1848, advising that, in accordance with a statute passed on March 24, 1843, entitled "An Act for the more equal assessment of taxes," John Hooper owned 30 shares of stock in Massachusetts Hospital Life Insurance Company of Boston. 4.
