This folder contains: 1. Report of the School Committee on the state of schools presented at the annual meeting, 1835, written by Frank Knight. 2. Invoice submitted by John Collyer, Jr. to the Town of Marblehead on April 12, 1939, for services "teaching" and "keeping the books, etc." (only partially legible). 3. Minutes of School Committee, March 1834: resolved that the Committee report to the town the number of students in each school, their ages and those that are unable to procure books and in which schools there has been the greatest improvement, if any. 4. Partial minutes of School Committee meeting January (?) 14, 1839, approving bills submitted for fuel, etc. 5. Record of the South School for the quarter ending August 26, 1833, reporting names of students, time of entry, absentees, etc. 6. Report of School Committee, 1836, submitted by Frank Knight. 7. Note to the Selectmen from the School Committee on June 16, 1837, requesting that a temporary school be established "for a few months" to accommodate the "present overflowing," signed by members of the School Committee, Geroge Roundey, A.C. Orne, William Hooper. 8. Note to the Selectmen from the School Committee requesting a public meeting for consideration of establishing a fourth "common master's school," signed by the Committee Chairman, John Bartlett, on May 31, 1838. 9. Report of the School Committee, March 6, 1838, signed by William Hawkes, Jr., Frederick Robinson, A.C. Orne, William Hooper, Nathan Goldthwait, George Roundey, William Stabens(?). 10. Report of the School Committee for 1838, signed by John Bartlett, Chairman, and Joseph Batcheller, Secretary, on February 25, 1939. 11. Minutes of School Committee meeting submitted to the Selectmen on March 19, 1832, signed by John Gregory, Nathaniel Adams, John Gilley, Committee members. 12. Invioce for $28.00 to Town of Marblehead Selectmen from F.G. Selman for serving on School Committee from March 1840 to March 1841. 13. Partial minutes regarding the disposition of the "Academy" of Marbhelead, undated, unsigned. 14. Report of the School Committee regarding overcrowding of schools, undated, unsigned. |
