A letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Charles Burnett dated Feb. 6, 1829 from Boston informing them that he is moving. A letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newburyport dated June 2, 1829 stating that they will be in Marblehead on Thursday and want to settle the account of paupers. A letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Boston dated June 25, 1829 regarding the support of Charlotte Frances Davis. Her husband died in Maine where he belonged and her maiden name was Orne, daughter of Joshua Orne and Lucretia Bourn. A letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newburyport dated Aug. 3, 1829 stating payment for Mrs.C. Tucker of your town is now due. A letter to the Overseers of the Poor form Newburyport dated Aug. 15, 1829 notifying them that Sarah Appleton, widow of the late Nathaniel Appleton, has become poor and applied for relief and requesting payment for charges. Three letters to the Overseers of the Poor from Westborough dated Sept. 25, Oct. 26 and Nov. 3, 1829 regarding Jane F. Reinhart and the bastard child by Joel Bartlett of Northborough. In the first they are looking for Jane to testify in a court case against Joel but she left town. In the second they are asking Capt. Joel Bartlett to take a plea or the case will proceed. In the third Joel has counsel and the case is being discontinued there and moved to Essex County. Letters to the Overseers of the Poor from Newburyport dated Nov. 2 and Nov. 9, 1829 notifying Marblehead that widow Abigail Jones, age 70, and her daughter Abigail Hotchkiss, age 45, with two children needed assistance and it will be charged to Marblehead. Letters to the Overseers of the Poor from Salem dated Nov. 5 and Nov. 9, 1829 regarding relief for Mr. Severy a inhabitant of Marblehead. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newbury dated Nov. 26, 1829 regarding child Charles Curtis sick with a fever and doctor visits. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Boston dated May 23, 1829 regarding the cost of burial of John Page, age 28, son of Ashel and Lucy Page of Marblehead. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Boston dated March 14, 1829 regarding the support of Meriah Gardiner, daughter of Jaince Wate of you town. Her husband Thomas Gardiner has no legal settlement in the state. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Jacob M. Emery of Bradford dated March 2, 1829 requesting $10 for house rent that he had not received. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newburyport dated May 9, 1829 requesting support for Mrs. Felton? who is destitute for everything. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Boston dated Feb. 12, 1829 advising Marblehead that they are supporting Richard Alexander and family while he is sick with the fever and this could continue fro some time. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from William Laskey in Newburyport dated Feb. 28, 1829 requesting his son be liberated and that his punishment will make him behave better in the future. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Danvers dated Dec. 14, 1829 advising that widow Margaret Searl and widow Jane Grove of your town requested assistance and you will be billed until they are removed. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newburyport dated Dec. 18, 1829 stating they granted Sarah Johns of your town $1. Her maiden name was Bowden, age 83 and her first husband was LeGrow. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Newbury dated Dec. 16, 1829 regarding the death of Sarah Appleton in August 1829 and your letter of August 17th denying Sarah and her husband were from Marblehead. Newbury believes her husband Nathaniel Appleton was the son of Jacob of your town. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Charlestown dated Dec. 18, 1829 stating that George O. Bartlett has become a pauper who they provided 2 feet of wood and are continuing the pension of the widow of Benjamin Welsh. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Salem dated Dec. 26, 1829 requesting payment for a doctor attending Hannah Bartlett. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Cambridge dated Dec. 28, 1829 notifying Marblehead that Sarah Dodge or Sarah Vanniven is in their alms house and requesting a $1 per week. She had been identified by a new arrival to town. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Salem dated Dec. 312, 1829 notifying that Richard Butman, born in Marblehead, is in their almshouse. His father was Joseph Butman who died 29 yeras ago and his mother, Elizabeth, married Robert Peirce who died 3 years age. He has a wife and children probably living with his mother. Letter to the Overseers of the Poor from Boston dated Dec. 22, 1829 regarding aid provided to widow Elizabeth Robinson, widow Mary Rogers and Hannah Gurney. Elizabeth's firtst husband was William Wildridge. Mary's husband was Giles Rogers. Letter from Charlestown dated Feb. 5, 1829 requesting payment for aid supplied to widow of Bn. Welsh, Catherine Farrier and G. O. Bartlett totaling $24.25. Letter from Salem dated Nov. 19, 1829 regarding aid provided to to Hannah Williams, John Peach and the wife of Reuben Floyd.
