This folder, labeled "Assessor and Bank Shareholder Documents," contains the following: 1. Letter to the Assessors, dated May 25, 1843, from Enoch Train, Clerk, regarding the statute passed for the more equal assessment of taxes and therefor providing a list of shareholders in the Robbins Cordate Co. of Plymouth who are known to be residents of Marblehead.i.e., John Hooper, 4 shares. 2. To the Assessors of Marblehead, May 1, 1843, declaration of shareholders in Columbian Bank, Boston, being residents of Marblehead, i.e., John Prince, 10 shares, and Marblehead Marine Insurance Co., 100 shares. 3. As these papers were collected over a period of 10 years and were stored in various unknown buildings and places were retrieved and sorted by volunteers in 1965 (about 100 years or more after they were made) and remained apparently undisturbed since then the papers we have are in good condition. However some have been water damaged. |
