This file contains two orders to constables to summon the following persons to appear to be sworn in to their respective offices. 1) The first is dated 11 March, 1745, the time and place is the house of Capt. John Stacey at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday next the 15th. It was returned on the 15th with the names of the persons so ordered and the offices to which they were appointed. 2) The second is dated March 24, 1747/8, the place is the Town House on 2 o'clock before John Trasher, a Justice of the Peace. It was returned on the 31st with the names of the persons so ordered and the offices to which they were appointed, except Ebenezer Hawkes and Joseph Griffins who made solemn affirmation according to Law. 3)The offices to which they were appointed are: Town Clerk Town Treasurer Assessors Constable Surveyor & Fence Viewer Tythingman Clerks of ye Market Cullers of Fish Hogg Reeves Surveyors of lumber Sealers of Leather to take care of deer The names on these two sheets are in the People section. |
