NOTICE The attention of all persons who deal in candy is hereby called to the following law: - Chap. 333 An act to regulate the sale of candy shells inclosing liquied containing alcohol. Be it enacted etc. as follows - Sec. 1. No person shall sell to any child under sixteen years of age any candy or other article, inclosing liquid or syrup containing more than one per cenum o alcohol. Sec. 2. All persons violating the provisions of this act shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty nor more than one hundred dollars. Approved May 18, 1891 HORACE BROUGHTON Chief of Police STORE-KEEPERS, ATTENTION The attention of storekeepers is called to the following law in regard to the proper observance of the Lord's day: Chapter 98 - Section 2. Whoever on the Lord's day keeps open his shop, warehouse or workhouse, or does any manner of labor, business or work, except works of necessity and charity, or takes part in any sport, game or play, except as allowed or prohibited in the preceeding section (Sec. 1 - Unless such ****** is licensed by the person or board authorized by law to grant licenses in such cases) is present at any dancing or public diversion, show, game or entertainment, shall be punished by fine not exceeding fifty dollars for each offence. Amended June 9, 1887, by adding at the end thereof the following - but nothing in this section shall be held to prohibit the manufacture and distribution of steam, gas or electricity for illuminating purposes, heat or motive power, nor the distribution of water for fire or domestic purposes, nor the use of the telegraph or telephone, nor the retail sale of drugs and medicines, nor articles ordered by the prescription of a physician, nor mechanical appliances used by physicians and surgeons, nor the letting horses and carriages, nor the letting of yachts and boats, nor the running of steam ferry-boats or established routes, of street railway cars, nor the preparation, printing and publishing of newspapers, nor the retail sale and delivery of milk, nor the transportation of milk, nor the making of butter and cheese, nor the keeping open of public bath houses, nor the making or selling by bakers or their employees of bread or other food usually dealt in by them before ten of the clock in the morning and between the hours of four of the clock and half past six of the clock in the evening.
