Newspaper article "The Grand Banks Fleet, 1839 to 1853, Chapter XV" by Frank C. Damon. The article describes the danger of fishing boats being run down by large steam ships traveling from Europe to America while at anchor fishing and how the use of bells and reflectors my help. Also tells how fishing was starting to improve in 1848. The article contains a table that lists the date sailed, vessel, master, owner, date returned and fare for ships from Marblehead for the Spring Fare, Fall Fare and those fishing for Macherel and Halibut.
The article is from a scrapbook containing articles from newspapers starting in around 1870 and continuing to 1910. The articles range from serialized stories, poems, birth death and marriage notices, historical and political articles. The scrapbook was started in Lynn and moves to Marblehead.
