This file contains papers concerned with the Poor and the many ramifications of the efforts of the towns and cities to pay their fair share for the upkeep of their citizens and not the citizens belonging to other communities. This file contains: 1)A sheet of paper 8" x 9.5" with several unidentified columns of figures in poor condition caused by soaking in water. 2)An command to the Sheriff of Essex county to size the "Goods, Chattels or Lands of the Inhabitants of Marblehead to pay Braintree $108.86 plus $.25 for this Writ. 3)A list of questions to investigate the source of the Town's expenses in 1822 concerning the Overseers of the Poor, size 13.5" X 8.25" 4)A Notice from the Master of the Alms House of Boston that Marblehead owes Boston $361.70 5)A list from Marblehead of goods and cash to Boston dated August 7, 1823. 6)Tow list of funds in very poor condition caused by being water soaked. 7)A Letter to Gordian (Maine) dated May 8, 1832difficult to read. 8)A Letter from Peter Thatcher of Boston dated Oct. 26, 1822. 9)A note to Ipswich about settling an account July 23, 1822 1822 |
