This file contains papers pertaining to drains and sewers which were reported to the selectmen from 1820 to 1870. I also contains papers connected with the reports of experts, receipted invoices for labor and materials etc.
There are:
A) 82 receipted invoices for labor & materials for repairs
B) 1 Report/ petition to the Selectmen of a drain needing work near the Engine House #3
C) 3 Reports/Petitions to the Selectmen of the drain needing work between Washington St. & Lovis Cove
D) 9 Reports of drains between land of various persons
E) 13 Reports/ Petitions to the Selectmen of the drains needing work connected with Darling St. With this file there are several letters to the Selectmen commenting on the proposed repairs in the 1860's
F) 3 Reports of drains near the Rail Road, Pleasant St. & School St.
G) 1 Report/ Petitions to the Selectmen of a drain from Beacon Hill to Little Harbor.
H) 1 Report / Petitions to the Selectmen drains between Lovis Cove to Nick's Cove. This would refer to the low land lying to the West of Front St. which is crossed by Darling, State, Picket & Stacey Streets.
