This file contains 162 papers concerning the Fire Department in the years 1860 to 1869.
A) 132 handwritten receipted invoices for services and material to the Town Fire Department.
B) Eight receipted invoices for services and material to the Town Fire Department on printed forms.
C) Fourteen petitions for various items connected with the Fire Department. 1) A petition for purchase of a building for the Gerry Engine house dated May 26, 1864. 2) Three petitions in a package dated March 13, 1865 for: a) Dispose of some engines and purchase a Steam fire eng. b) Sell the "Mugford" Engine and buy the "Fountain" from Salem c) Move the "Liberty" Engine 3) A petition with several suggestions: a) Purchase 50 ft. of Hose b) Purchase a Hose Carriage c) Organize a Hose Company d) Provide a place for a Hose carriage and company e) Construct one or more reservoirs 4) A petition for $100 repairs to the "Gerry", "Mugford" & "Gen. Glover" 5) A petition to pay rent for the room occupied by the "Mugford" Engine and company. 6) A petition for a house for new Hose Carriage and company 7) A petition to enlarge the Franklin St. engine house to provide space for the Hose Carriage and Company 8) A petition that the chambers of the Hook & Ladder Company be enlarged. 9) A petition for the construction of a reservoir at the corner of Watson St opposite the Universalist Church. 10) A petition from the Fire Wards for money to work on the fire engines. 11) A petition for the building a new house for the "Gerry Engine" 12) A petition to rent an engine house for the "Mugford" 13) A request from J.
