Petition of Widow Patience Furguson November 4, 1734. looking for support. 12. Petition to the gentlemen Selectmen of Marblehead flrom Widows Roads and Wormsted complaining of the treatment of Mr. William Waitt. They are in fear of their lives and of their customers. 13. Danvers, July 4, 1795 - Gentlemen, Mrs. Bridget Gilman of Dover sent to me a note of 27L payable to her by the town of Marblehead, to receive the princable and interest if it was convenient for to to pay it. He goes on to say he lost one note and needs a new one. Your humble servant, Ward Pool 14. To the Selectmen of Marblehead - The Assessors of this town have seen fit to levy a tax upon me, which treatment of a Clergyman is without a precedent. Charlestown, Sept. 26, 1797- to Select Men of the Town of Marblehead - My sister informs me that the surveyor for the town has greatly injured by Estate of the late Ruth Harris deceased by taking away the stones and steps from the house, that it is almost impossible to get inside it and that when she requested him to decease he would not. I will not believe that you will not look into this injury and order the effects to be placed in a good situtation. Your attention on this matter will oblige. Sam Bradford 17. Letter from Danl Applelton, County to Selectmen - It's verysurprising to me that you have not answered my order upon you payable to Wm. Gatchel. What the reason is I cannot say but you have now in your hands which ought to be paid first of January more than twice that sum. I therefore define that you would without any further delay discharge the same, let you demand upon Mr. Gatchel be what they will and in you compliance herewith. 18. At a meeting of the Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor on Monday, beginning the 8th of Dec.1880 agreed and order that Mr. John Bondy - $40, Benj. Lord - $12.00, Robt Deveraux, Joseph Ford $29.16, Robt. Deveraux have an order for $100. Recorded 19. Board of Health Office January 4m, 1812 voted that the Selectmen be notified of the following - Thomas Dixey late clerk be honored. September 16, 1816 request by Arnold Martin to have an old chimney taken down Approved. 23. Salem, Aug. 27, 1816 - We hold your promisary note dated Sept. 4, 1815 for $76.15 in behalf of the inhabitants of the Town of Marblehead - having just purchased a quantity of coal of one of your townmen, we propose to give him note in part payment. 24. Jine 14, 1921 Request from B.F. Sanborn for a note on interest for $250. 25. Wiscaset, February 3, 1820 - Letter from Rachel Quinn inquiring as to what has become of property of Michael Quinn deceased for her children. John Prentis, Town Clerk replied stating that he did not own any property. 26. Letter February 5, 1827 from E. Henry Derby presenting a valuable bull to the inhabitents of Marblehead. Accpted for the Alms house. 27. Marblehead, August 17, 1834 letter to Selectmen from Wm. Fabens stating that he had an order to the amount of fifteen hundred dollars, principal and interest to be paid. Ifnot they have directed me to put them in suit. 28. 1838 - Letter from counsel for heirs of Ambrose L. Courtis in regard to legacies left to the town for a meeting. 29. July 13, 1836 - The undersigned present that the dwelling house between Mr. Rea and estate of Capt. Trent is in a state of delapadation and falling to pieces. Signed, John Orne, Benj. Lindsey, S. December 20, 1840 - To Gentlemen Selectmen of the Town of Marblehead - the undersigned respectfully represent the some peron or person, did on the eve of the 16th attack the dwellings of your said petitioners and break the windows and ask that the offenders be brought to justice. N. Broughton 31. October 24, 1840 To the Selectmen, The petioners request permission to show sundry feats of activity in the town for two days and if weather permitting he would put of a Pavilion on the Common, or some other bui8lding to take place within a month from this date.
