This file contains papers to the Town of Marblehead, Overseers of the Poor. 1) Letters from Towns and Cities that had persons connected to Marblehead on the rolls of their Overseers of the Poor. They sent notice to Marblehead that Marblehead must take them into Marblehead's Poor House or pay for their care in the community in question. Of these notices there are One each from Topsfield, Lynn, Bristol, Wenham, Tewskbury , 2 from Lincolnville & 3 from Salem. 2) A note dated Jan. 30,1816 about John Davis, Born in London in 1763, arrived in Newport R.I. in 1781, to Boston in 1785 for 14 years then came to Marblehead and the Overseers of the Poor. 3) there are 18 invoices for goods and services billed to The Overseers of the Poor. Two invoices from the Commonwealth of Massachuetts with the expenses of persons supported by the Commonwealth for Marblehead. Cost $215.84 & $460.52 |
