A WORD ABOUT THE BOTANY - An article describing the many different types of flora found in Marblehead including many native plants and as well as those intoduced with the early colonists. 45-49. INDIAN ANTIQUITIES - Marblehead has a greater number and variety of Indian antiquities than have been found in any other town in New England. These consist of places of burial, remains of two forts, a fortified village, numerous shell heaps and quaries..Specimens have been found in all areas of the town. 49-51. HISTORY OF MARBLEHEAD - The town was incorporated by act of the General Court, May 2, 1649. In 1684 the land was bought from the indians and became a prosperous fishing and commercil port. Years of interest noted until 1895. 53-71. POINTS OF HISTORICAL INTEREST - A collection of houses of interest and inhabitants such as General Glover and Elbridge Gerry. Points of Interest suich as Fort Sewall, Old Burial Hill, etc. 71-75. THE OLD BURYING HILL - Home of the First Meeting House and burying ground.
