This folder, labeled "Town Records - Petitions and reports of committee concerning care of town records, 1805-1858," contains the following: 1. Payment of $15 to Isaac Mansfield, 1805, for searching town records of making an index of same, beginning March 20, 1720, and ending March 2, 1764. 2. Report by committee to examine and destroy all town orders paid by the treasurer for the year ending March 1858. Signed by Stephen Hathaway and William Turner, March 20, 1858. 3. Report by committee appointed to destroy town orders paid by the town treasurer, April 8, 1864. Signed by B. Lindsey and W. Gilley. 4. Motion made by Glover Broughton and others that town record held at Marblehead Bank be removed to the town clerk's residence to be arranged in systematic order and to have an arch made in the selectmen's room and a case on wheels set in to hold the records, 1852. 5. Resolve adopted at annual meeting, 1844, to provide a safe to rerserve town records. 6. Report on preservation of town records, March 1839, signed by F. Parton. |
