Nute dated Jan. 1, 1850 for 1 month 12 days laborat $15.00 per month. 3. Payment of $9.00 by the Town of Marblehead to Margaret Mullet dated Feb. 5, 1850 for 18 weeks of board of Joseph Cox. 4. Payment of $5.29 by the Town of Marblehead to the Town of Swanseydated Feb. 11, 1850 for 5 weeks and 2 days support of pauper, no name given. 5. Payment of $2.87 by the Town of Marblehead to E. Arnold dated Feb. 13, 1850 for sulfur, bug poison, sudrie meds, paregoric, tine of rhubarb, chloride lime, dis. fluid and champhor. 6. Payment of $5.29 by the Town of Marblehead to the Town of Middleton dated Feb. 5, 1850 for 5 weeks and 2 days board of Mary Snow from Mar. 6 to April 12, 1848. 7. Payment of $64.63 by the Town of Marblehead to Thomas Evans dated Feb. 5, 1850 for traveling and expenses to Boston, Dedham, Rail Road fares, South Dedham, Lynn, Beverly, Ipswich, Charlestown, Andower, Fall River and Swansey between Mar. 4, 1849 and Jan. 21, 1850. 8. Payment of $121.26 by the Town of Marblehead to the Town of Saugus dated Feb. 5, 1850 for supplies to Caroline Pierce, Eliza Jane Holmes and Wm. Cruff plus wood for Mr. Quiner, Wm. Cruff, Eliza White, Caroline Pierce and Widow Tarr, Peter Shot and Eliza Jane Holmes between Jan. 29, 1849 and Jan. 22, 1850. 9. Payment of $6.50 by the Town of Marblehead to Henry P. Reynolds dated Feb. 5, 1850 for 13 weeks board of Jane Harris. 10. Payment of $2.40 by the Town of Marblehead to John Shehay dated Feb. 13, 1850 for drilling and blasting 40 inches on Dec. 5, 1849. 11. Payment of $2.00 by the Town of Marblehead to the Town of Newburyport dated Feb. 13, 1850 for 2 feet of wood and supplies for Eliza Brown wife of John Brown on May 24, 1849. 12. Notice from the City of Boston dated Feb. 15, 1850 that Eleanor Allen, sister of Nancy Jackson had applied for relief with was granted and will be charged to your town. 13. Payment of $4.00 by the Town of Marblehead to the Town of Beverly Feb. 13, 1850 for 4 feet of wood to W. F. Renard on Feb. 21, 1849. 14. Letter from Lynnfield dated April 11, 1850 providing information on the past residents of Mrs. Rennard, about 53 years of age, wife of F. W. Rennard. They have eight children four of which they are presently have to supporting. Lynnfield is suppling them with one cord of wood valued at $3 to $4 dollars. 15. Letter from the Overseers of the Poor to the Selectmen of the Town of Marblehead dated May 27, 1850 stating that an examination of the Alms house shows it is in an untenentable state and requesting a Town Meeting to address the subject. Signed by Geo. Cloutman, Thomas Evans, George Knight, Wm. Humphrey, William Stevens, John Proctor, Azor O. Knight, Geo. F. Pedrick, W. M. Knight, Joseph Dolibar, Moses Sennet, George LeMaster, John Adams, John Homan, John S. Atkins, John Orne, Geo. E. Bartlett and S.R. Cruff. 16. Payment of $8.00 by the Town of Marblehead to James Coffin dated June 10, 1850 for advertising in Advocate "Alms House for Sale" for 2 months, advertising for proposals for grading Ocean Street, advertising Assessors Notices and Law and printing Assessors Notices and Law. 17. Report by Committee to investigate the subject of the petition of Geogre Cloutman and other in relation to the Alms House dated June 1850. Report stated the Alms house is unfit to repair and in dangerous condition and recommend building a new house. Siogned by William Stevens for the committee. 18. Letter by Reading dated June 21, 1850 to the Overseers of the Poor that the said Nunneman belongs to this place although you made a mistake in regard to the woman he married. The Hunneman that lived here married Roxanne Pratt instead of Flat. Please inform us if this is correct. 19. Petition to the Selectmen dated June 24, 1850 to call a meeting of legal voters to, 1. see if the Town will build a new poor house, 2. if they will vote a sufficient sum of money to defray the expenses of the same, 3rd to prop such other votes that may be ncessary in the process. signed by Geo. Cloutman, Thomas Evans, William Fabeus, John H. Brown, P. M. Smith, Benj. W. Goodwin, John Conway, Thomas T. Paine, Sam. Homan, John HomanJr., Thomas Foss and Saml Bowden. 20. Report of the Committee appointed on the 22 of June in relation to building a new Poor House. They stated the old house is in dangerous condition and beyond repair and would cost to put it in a safe and proper condition would be as much if not more than a new house. They recommend a two story wooden building measuring 40 feet by 60 feet, with finished attic and basement be built on town land across the way from the present building and six thousand dollars be raised by loan for that purpose. |
