This file contains handwritten invoices to the Town for the years 1740-1749 They are for services or items authorized by the Selectmen. 1. 1742 (the year Frankland came to build the Fort which became Fort Sewall) William Goodwin submitted invoice "To waiting on his Excellency ye Capt. General with Mr. Brown" for £5. Plus other invoices from him 2. 1747 invoice from Eben Stacey which included an item "To 132 feet Planks for Bridge going to neck. Was the causeway broached ? As these papers were collected over a period of 10 years and were stored in various unknown buildings and places were retrieved and sorted by volunteers in 1965 (about 100 years or more after they were made) and remained apparently undisturbed since then the papers we have are in good condition. However some have been water damaged. |
