Folder titled "Overseers of the Poor, 1839 containing the following items: 1. Paid of Henry Langley in the amount of $202.58 - paid May 11th, 1839 rec'd payment. Mostly in poor condition - eleven items and many unreadable 2. Letter from Salem, Dec. 9th, 1839. Gentlemen, The wife of Sam. Welliston and Ann Dennis both acknowledge inhabitants of your town and have again became chargeable to this City as paupers and we have furnished them with wood as heretofore in winter, and shall .........in very poor condition and unreadable and torn 3. Town of Marblehead to William Hawkes. 1838 - rations to Mrs. Cauly from Jan. 1 to April 1st - 13 weeks 25 cents per week for $3.25; to Mrs. Cash, $3.25; Mrs. Dodd, $3.25. February 6 to March 31, 1838 for supplies to Mr. Brown in the amount of $9.00 Supplies to Mr. James Snow from May 5, 1838 to October 4. Rations to Mr. Snow from Oct. 1838 to January 1839 at one dollar per week for 10 weeks - $10.00. Received payment of $42.75 - William Hawkes 4. Overseers Poor of Town of Marblehead to Thomas Boardman - 1839. Received payment in the amount of $12.12 for 4 trips to Salem for $4.75 and 2 trips to Boston for $4.62 and 3 more trips to Salem for $2.75 for total of $12.12. Received payment 5. Town of Marblehead to the Town of Lynn - Nov. and Dec. for supplies of $13.75 and two supplies in Feb. 1839 for $5.81 for a total of $19.56 6. Town of Marblehead to William Laskey for $13.25 7. Received of the inhabitants of the Town of Marblehead, 17 dollars in full for supporting Samuel Lennis (?), a pauper of that Town. Yours Respectfully, Aaron Wallis, Chairman of Town of Marblehead, Board of Overseers of the Poor 8. Town of Marblehead to Town of Lynn, December 13, 1838 to 8 feet wood $8.00. Supplies Mary Procter at 50 per week commencing Feb. 27, 1837 and ending Jan. 1838 for $30.00. Signed by Silvanus Newhall 9. Overseers of the Poor of Marblehead to J.H. Brown to amount of note dated Aug.12,1838 - $90.00. Expenses as accounted for by said Lampley in his note in the hands of the Treasurer - $43.46 for a total of $133.46 - received payment, June 12, 1840. Rec'd payment J.H. Brown 10. Town of Marblehead to Wm. Laske, 1839 to allowance to Town at 3/ per week commencing Jan. 1st and ending April 1 in the amount of $6.25 - received 11. Town of Marblehead to Thomas Boardman. To supplies B. Smith 1838 from Oct 3 to Jan 3, 1839. Thirty nine weeks at 50/per week - $19.50 and .36 cents to Mr. Jarvis for a total of $19.86 12. Northboro, March 1839. The Overseers of the Poor for the Town of Marblehead twenty dollars eighty four cents in full for boarding and nursing Frederick Reinhart from February 19th to March 15.
